Time:2023-08-28 09:30

The results of the 2023 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) have been announced, and the College of Mathematics and Statistics (CMS) has received good news. A total of 10 grants were awarded to the School, including one Outstanding Youth Science Fund project, seven face-to-face projects, and two Youth Science Fund projects, with a total funding of 5,675,000 RMB; the funding rate of the projects is 30.30%, which is 14.27% higher than that of the national funding rate of 16.03%. Among the funded teachers, Mr. Gao Yan won the Outstanding Young Scientist Fund project, seven teachers, namely, Wang Yingnan, Xiao Wei, Zhou Ze, Duan Qin, Dong Hailing, Xu Chen and Qiu Yushan, won the surface project, and Wang Jiangzhou and Pan Huan won the youth project.

The College attaches great importance to the declaration of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and actively promotes the declaration of projects and improves the quality of the declaration by carrying out a series of initiatives, including fund application counseling lectures, one-on-one counseling for the old and the new, and academic exchange forums.

This year's 10 funded projects include both fundamental theoretical research dedicated to solving some challenging mathematical problems or open problems, as well as research on applied problems based on the cutting-edge areas of multidisciplinary crossover such as medical imaging, machine learning and statistical learning. The School of Mathematics and Statistics has a long-term development plan and guidance for different disciplines, and these project grants will actively promote the improvement of the research level of the School, the construction of disciplines, and the quality of talent training. Looking ahead, the School will continue to provide better support and services to all teachers in the declaration of various projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).

Finally, we would like to express our warm congratulations again to the teachers who have been awarded the projects this year!
